Hello

At my hunting cabin we have a bug rock across the lake (400yd) with is about the size of a moose. Each years when nothing happens during hunting its time when start shooting the rocks.

Not too hard with my 308 and iron sight but not all of my hunting buddy are good shots! Shot 4 on 4 with the 308 but when everyone was done shooting I decided to pull out the .17 and try it out not expecting much. I have a reticle (correct name) with bullet drop up to 400 yds. I believe this was made to be used on a .223 (I bought the rifle used).
So I aim the top of the rocks and shoot it. The first shot hit about 5 feets short and I ended up hitting 7 out of 10 shot. There was a little bit of crosswind and I just says bah lets try shooting about 5 feet to the right and it worked!

One of the cool thing is that I could see the bullet hit the rock or water in the scope :)

Anyway I had fun with the gun and everyone liked it!

Damn right they are fun little guns... well mine isn't so little :)

After 50 years shooting gophers with a .22 I bought a .17 HMR. My only wish is that I had one 30 years ago. So many new calibres, ammo, and rifles and so little time. The .17 is the best thing that ever happened to rim fire shooting. Now I'm hoping other makers climb on the bandwagon, hopefully Cooper builds a .17 Winchester Super Mag. I was able to buy a box of ammo but the Savage B Mag won't be available in Canada until next year.

You should check with Cooper on that one. That said, I think I read somewhere that they're scaling-back the number of custom guns they're making in the interest of keeping up with the demand of their popular, factory-configured ones.
