The right grip panel depicts a woman who appears to be of Polynesian/Maori origin. The person who commissioned the grips travelled a bit....
It would be interesting to contact Colt to see where this 1911 started out.

Its a '17-18 frame, looks like serial is gone. Colt could probably not say where it went. Not sure about the later stampings on frame, they might indicate part of its past to someone knowledgeable?
