I know that the calico and the american 180 are prohibited by name.. but the magazines are exempt from the saize limit.. Has anyone tried to mount a magazine onto some other type of firearm?
I know that someone is building a am180 upper for the ar15 lower, and that is well and good but the price is scarey!
Does anyone have any suggestions of firearms that you may be able to apply some of these magazines to? I think it would be great to have a 100 round mag or maybe a 280 drum that you can take plinking! I have never seen or handled one of those nasty prohib type, but I am sure we can come up with some sort of a conversion.
maybe a gevarm could be machined to handle a feed from the top? or use a bolt from one and build your own frame?
any suggestions would be appreciated.

From what I understand calicos are a real pain, the helical mags jam constantly and you can shoot faster with a bunch of 25 rounders.

With a bitter tear in my eye I have to tell you that claim is bull####.

There were aspects of the M-100 that were not perfect, but the mags worked perfectly. The feed lips were similar to the Ruger, using a cast stainless steel insert.

On mine, the lower frame cracked due to shear over work, but in a way that would have allowed it to keep running for years. The cocking lever was held to the bolt with a roll pin that fractured around 10k.

Other than that, it just ran, and ran, and ran.

Damn I miss her:mad:

I don't have any first hand experience with a Calico, just repeating what I have been told.
I guess what I heard was someone's sour grapes.

does anyone know of someone with a magazine collecting dust. I sure some of those must be deactivated around here..calico's or 180's. has anyone ever seen them.
