I figured I might as well join as my husband is now a gun nut and he's been bugging me to join for quite some time.
Unlike a lot of people, I never had an interest in guns or shooting. I was born and raised in NY, and there guns are generally frowned upon unless you're a regular hunter. Then I married a ranch boy from southern AB and I've more or less completely changed. We now live in the Yukon together and I applied for my RPAL a month or so ago. I didn't see the point in getting my PAL and then my RPAL when I have a gun nut as a husband and easily challenged the restricted exam.
As for gun experience, I pretty much have none. It's actually almost amazing to me that I passed the exams (both written and practical) with how little knowledge I have. I've only actually shot a gun a few times (one .22 and one 12 gauge...needless to say I preferred the .22). However, I've just joined a range and bought my first rifle just today (well, technically my husband did, as my license hasn't showed up yet). I got a Savage Mark II. .22LR, stainless barrel, accu-trigger, fiber optic sights. I love the sights and I also love how light it is. I think it being light will help me at first as I'm just learning to shoot and also have to learn to shoot right-handed even though I'm a lefty (I'm blind in my left eye, so shooting left handed is not an option for me).
That's my version of a brief introduction. I'm female, sometimes I talk too much and I fully admit it.
