Very slow service, avoid dealing with Gravel if you can help it

Just posting my only experince with Gravel, so people know what theyre in for before sending in their firearm for any warranty work. I got a confirmation from Canada Post that they first received my shotgun for warranty work over 16 weeks ago. Every few weeks I ask for an update, and each time they say it will be a few more weeks. They ordered the wrong part, need to order another one, etc.

I guess there isnt much other choice in Canada for warranty work, but my point is that if you think you can pay to get your gun repaired elsewhere it might be worth it, unless you want to miss an entire summer of shooting

They wait for parts like a car dealer. Was it a domestic-NA firearm or something else? There are a few factors that can contribute to a delay.

Warranty for firearms in this country just plain sucks dosnt matter who it's through it always takes forever. That's the product of Canada being such a small part of the gun market and the bull#### regulations regarding shipping across the border sure dosnt help much eigther.

Absolutely true: I have a shotgun out on warranty with another center (not Gravel) that was sent end of May and it is NOT expected back until 2018 due to the issue of getting the part from the USA.

Glock warranty will have my G19 back to me in under 6 weeks, and it was an overhaul. Rampart handles their stuff IIRC. Some manufacturers will get things back to you in a reasonable amount of time, whether there product is in Canada or not.

*If I'm not allowed to mention the dealer in my post here I will remove it*

I had a pretty good experience with them. I bought a new-ish Marlin 1895 SBL from a guy, then later discovered the front site was slightly canted to the left. The email back and forth with Gravel was great (they always responded within a day or so). They agreed to warranty work even though I had no receipt. Sent in the gun and about 6 weeks later they sent me a brand new gun.

Yup.
3.5 month wait on a Benelli repair for me. It mainly involved replacing tiny screw.

I sent them an email with an inquiry 3 days ago and they never responded. That has nothing to do with border control so I think they likely just have poor CS.

My personnal experience with them as been incredible, Gravel are normaly outstanding with repairs, communications and down time.
I only had to deal with them twice in about 20 Remington product I own.
The one repair they did, I have to say was entirely my fault shouldnt been wanrantied; they did for free, only charged me shipping back to my place and was done in about a day...shipping was longer than the repair.
They have my complete trust and i will support the brands they sell because of the exceptionnal service they give.

What we really need in Canada are more Authorized Gun Smiths to do the repair work. When an entire gun company only has 1 repair facility, its bound to be back logged. However I to prefer honesty. If they are back logged be honest, don't make other excuses. If they are waiting for parts and it may be a while to get them, then be honest with the customer. Anyway my 2 cents.

Gravel VP just called me, i guess the CGN post mabye got their attention lol. He was very apologetic and said hopefully 3 weeks for the part, explained why my model shotgun was hard to get parts for & offered me some compensation. He gave me the impression that they are trying to resolve it asap so in the meantime will mark this thread for removal.

I had a conversation with a fellow CGN member here about his Rossi loading gate needing replacement. He was told by Rossi that he needs to contact Snapshotguns. They couldn't get the parts for him although they are the Canadian authorized repair center.

I had an email conversation with snapshotguns and they've told me that they haven't received parts from Rossi in Brazil in two years. I then followed up with a question if they have any customers waiting for warranty repairs and I haven't heard anything back. We are indeed a tiny market that some gun manufacturers don't even see us in their radar.

I have heard about the snail speed of some of these companies in terms of warranties. I understand warranty work should be free (because it was a defect etc.). If money isn't an issue I would highly suggest a local gunsmith to help out your economy. I'd rather have more time to shoot a firearm and few coins less than to less time with a firearm and cash that could probably buy another gun!

I had a Marlin 1894 in 357 mag with tons of problems and Gravel took really good care of me, same for the recall Rem 700 trigger on both occasion the whole process took about a month to be resolved including shipping. I think a lot has to do with what manufacturer of firearm you are sending in for warranty claim, you have to remember they need cooperation from other parties to be authorized to do the warranty repair or they are stuck with the bill.

Any warranty service sucks for new firearms.
New guns should work first time out of the box.
That's why I check them thoroughly before buying them and/or buy through a dealer with a money back before a trial period like 30 days or so written policy.
If it's something minor I'll fix it myself or hire the services of a gunsmith and rack it up to experience.

@win94luver it was my first shotgun purchase so I didnt think to check it that thouroughly, lesson learned i guess. But after talking to gravel I think they are doing their best, the wait time is just frustrating. Ive asked the mods to remove this thread
