I bought one of those cheap Chinese .177 air rifles that was on sale recently at Princess Auto for $29.99 and was very surprised at how good a deal it was. It shoots very well, has a very nice rifled bore, seems powerful enough, is all steel (even the front and rear sights) and wood except for one minor plastic hole cap, has a nice solid oak hardwood stock with very nice grain and looks like it is bullet proof and should last my kids awhile with the treatment kids usually give.

This is what it looks like except for the stock, which looks like a plain hardwood on this one -

Anybody else got one and if so what do you think of it at this price?

I| bought one a few years ago. I was impressed with it for the price.
Bought another last year and it wasn't nearly as powerful. Opened it up and the spring is much shorter.
If you want it to last I would open it up and clean it. They are usually pretty dirty inside, metal shavings and mystery lubes.

bought the same one for my 8 yr old. the rear sight is flimsy and will bend out of shape in a strong wind. As well, seems totally lacking in power, would only knock over empty pepsi cans at 10 yards, not even piercing the thin aluminum. Before the rear sight got bent(snagged on her sweater) it did shoot dead straight, Ill give it that much.

Rear sight on this one seems strong enough to me, a lot stronger than some of the plastic ones I have seen on other airguns! the one I bought is accurate and puts a pellet through both sides of a coke can at 15 paces too!

One guy from that other mentioned forum was very happy with his, check out these groups at 20' from his one -

And this other guy was getting very good performance from his B1 springer (same model as mine) -

Just tested my older one. Shot a soup can from 15 feet (all I have at the moment) blew through one side and put a dent in the other side.
Still smokes like a bugger years later, no sure if I cleaned this one.

several reports of the catch failing and the barrel flying back into uncocked position.

Thanks for the info, spent awhile on that forum, more people than not on that forum think that these rifles are also really good value for under $30.

This is what my rear sight looks like, all steel, like a military rifle sight -

I bought a couple at PA at the same price. I haven't used it much, just a plinker. Great for the price.

I bought one of these as well but after a few shots the breech seal fell to peaces , anyone know where to get a new seal ? Other wise the gun is of better quality than expected for this price.

I got one from the older batch and it shoots dead straight at 10m. Used to take out soda cans in the backyard, fun time

Peavy Mart had some a couple years back and the barrels were rifled off center and grossly crooked . Typical Chinese QC all over the map shipment to shipment.

Picked up one of these for the wife at the start of the summer. She loves it! She has put over 2000 pellets down that pipe and the thing is still dead on. It is costing me a fortune in recyclable cans. I am genuinely supprised and thinking of picking up a few extras just to have around.

PA also sells a o-ring set and I read on another forum that they swapped out the factory crappy seal for one of these o-rings and got a bit more power to boot! simple drop in job.

Memory lane! These look very similar to my very first springer (mine 30+ years now). Still shoots well, and many a Starling/Greckle found their ending with it. Strong enough to punch holes in the barn roof, and invoke the "guidance" from a parent...

Will dig it out to compare. I have promised it to my son, but as of last Spring it was still a little much for them to #### it.

Cannot deny it's robust enough to last, as it still has original seals in it
