This nice non-typical Columbia Blacktail was down the street from my house here in Victoria yesterday (10/10/2015). He was at about 25 yards and with another buck the same size but with a really nice typical 4X4 rack with decent brow tines as a bonus (picture coming). They were accompanied by two does also. I hoped I might see the boy's get into a scrap, but the rut hasn't kicked in yet. This would be considered by Vancouver Island hunter's a a definate 'shooter". Guessing he was about 135 live weight. Urban deer are plentiful here in town, eating the residents expensive plants (boo-hoo) is all the talk and last year they trapped/culled 11 at a cost of over $1,000.00 per deer. Doubt they would taste good as their diet mainly consists of tulips, plants and monsanto grass from the golf course. Nice to see though. This was in Rockland for those familiar with Victoria. The photo doesn't show the multiple sticker-points well unfortunately (wife's damn smart-phone).
