Victoria Day in Ottawa

I didn't stay for it all but it was an interesting weekend Gord had a good showing
Sat for the early yardages and finished atop of the leader board but not by as many as he had prior to the start of teh 800 relay. Come the 800 on Saturday the wind was switchie and Gord gave up some ground to Norm. But the story was the calibre selection for the 800 and 900 yardages by Norm. We had heard rumors that the 7’s were starting to show up but we didn’t expect Norm’s choice. Norm brought out a 7mm boo boo. Now if you don’t know what that is it is an 8x68 RWS cartridge necked down to 7. When it was compared to the straight 284 it easily dwarfed the 284. think 223 vs. 308 both in 30 cal. We had asked what winadge was needed for 10-12 mph winds and the response was to leave 0 on the gun we all nervously laughed….Norm completed the 800 yardage with a 50 6x. Norm gained 5 point at the 800 on Saturday to be only one point behind..... More to come.

Some more F class Victoria Day details

Does anyone have the Saturday results from Ottawa?

Leo D'Amour won the F(O) class weekend agg by 1 point over Barry Price and Norm Barber. Barry was second by 2V's over Norm.

There were 5 F(O) class shooters.. Leo 6.5/284, Barry 6.5/47 and .284, Norm 6/BR and 7 Boo,Boo, Gord .260 imp Rem in a tube gun. And Alex with a .308 F(TR) rifle because he was 1 pound too heavy to shoot with F(TR).

There were 7 F(TR) shooters some of who were Darin, Claude, Norbert, Paul.
Shooting .308 and .223. Darin Stewart won the weekend agg I think. Using a .308 Rem with a Nightforce 12-42NSX and a CORTEK modified Harris Bipod.

Home now and recovering....
Great weekend of trigger pulling and in some cases leg pullin. Hottawa lived up to it's reputation.
Wasn't able to get a copy of results so will have to wait for website posting to get ALL shooters listed.
I think Des Vamplew won almost every TR award.
Norm's just about got it all there in his summary .
He forgot to mention the Team Match when
Team Norbert #1 took high honors :) with a 308 , 223 and 2 -6.5's in the lineup.
I managed to snag a few cups early in the matches, but it was again inspiring to see MR Leo D'Amour pull it together for a finishing AGG win. Continuing to prove it's never over til the last shots down range.

Norm's got that BooBoo humming and I believe it's the shooter and not the round that makes it sing.I notice his post was typed left handed cause his right arm is still in a sling.
He said that the recoil was very manageable ,but I noticed he finished his string 3 feet back on the mound from where he started.

Barry P shot extremely well and when the "secret weapon"gets done it's final tuning will be continuing to kick some serious butt.

Range control was wondering what happened in the barracks. When they did the march out inspection, they found all the paint and varnish in Norm's room peeled off.We explained about Norm's ability to peel paint off with his snoring ,but only those billeted in the same barrack could attest to this phenomenon. Ask Darin!!

Darin turned in an excellent performance and won the Agg in FTR. An oversight at the club did not separate the 2 F Classes, but hopefully he will be given the honors when the
results are posted on the ORA sight.
Congrats to all who attended as it was a great weekend weatherwise despite the weatherman's forcast.
