FWIW, you are not the first person to accidently do this - and i have seen worse stuff done to shotguns and rifles.I did plenty of research on the gun. I know where it was stored for the majority of the time, and as I stated, I inspected the barrel, breach and muzzle for any signs of damage or weakness before I fired it. The gun wasn't the problem. As I have said, the ammo and my lack of knowledge with regards to it were the causes of the incident. I accept the blame for destroying a family heirloom, and don't need my nose rubbed in it. I assumed all shot was lead, as that was how it used to be, and I deliberately used the mildest ammo I could find.
Just take this as a what not to do, and leave the flaming to me. I beat myself up about this every time I see the video or open my safe.
One guy at the range last year was going to shoot some steel , but before he could, one of the guys stopped him because he was using a full choke.
When he said the choke in the gun was "full steel" , the other fella said "Oh, sorry! HEY, that's a 3'' shell , and a 2 3/4" shell ya got there, Sonny??!
I'm glad I ws on the other side of a car at the time!!
