Viet nam loves US war surplus

When my friends from the USA start tooting about all the wars they've "won" I can usually get them quiet by saying the only war the US ever won was the Civil War.

There is a good BBC series about the Vietnam conflict on netflix. The US basically won the war but got back stabbed by public opinion (napalm, civil casualties etc.) and their own government finally. The real victims were the South Vietnamese - to this day even.

If history repeats itself, the US already lost any upcoming conflict against China and Russia.

I have American friends that staunchly maintain the US won the the Viet Nam war.

My response: "If that was a victory, I'd hate to see what you'd call a defeat."

The Brits have a history of losing battles but winning wars, turning stunning defeats into heroic victories. No way a spin could turn the VNW into a "victory".

Though I agree with you, the KD ratio was vastly in US favour. Also the purpose of the war was financial gain, which as mentioned before was a tremendous success.
