Viht N160 in the .260 rem, need load advice

Ive been using H4350 42.3 gr with the 139 scenars, which is near max load for me. But i need to try some N160 because my H4350 is running out, and i don't imagine i will see any for a while.

I went to lapuas website to look for load data, it seems their velocities are on the slow side. Anybody have any experience with it? What velocity can i expect out of a 29.5" kreiger.
 
42.3 is over max for a 140 with H4350. One grain isn't going to matter. Anyway, if you think the Lapau velocities are too low, use a different powder.
No telling what a barrel of any length or make, will do without the twist rate. Mind you, velocity doesn't matter as much as accuracy.
N160 is quite a bit slower according to Hodgdon's burn rate chart. H4350 is Number 115. N160 is 125.
 
Well anybody shooting Fclass is usally trying to get as much speed as the case will allow, all while still trying to keep tight groups and low ES.

Im only trying to see what others have done, to base my own test trials. And looking at lapuas load data they based the .260 of an 18" barrel. So that doesnt give me a clue where i will end up with an 11" longer barrel !!

Fyi my kreiger is an 8 twist

I really can't say much about the powder in a 260 Rem., however in my 6.5x284 Norma, it is my most accurate powder using 139 scenars.
 
Myself and couple others use/used (mine is a hunting gun now) 4831SC with the 140gr Berger VLD's for F-Class.

Never tried Viht powders myself, but if I was I would look at the 560 over the 160 as you won't get the velocity with the 160.

From my testing N160 gave me about 170-190fps more than the same weight of H4831, using 139's and was easy on brass. 29.5" 8twist for F-O.
N560 would surely take that even further but I didn't the N500 series yet.

Just curious what velocities you were getting and approx load?
 
In my rifle 41.5gr of N160 gave me about 2730, 44gr of H4831 2730fps as well. 44gr of N160, 2900ish with BR2's and it didn't take as much room in the case, but it was accurate at that load and I didn't have time to do more testing.
I had to seat the bullets in a fair bit since I cut my chamber with a saami spec reamer(quickest to get at the time) I plan to throat it deeper when time allows so I can seat them out properly and test some more for what I can really get out of it.
I don't know yet if this varies a bit lot to lot, I got 2 other lots now to try later this year.
