I recently came across a bunch of NOS Bushnell scope bases in a configuration I do not recognize. Is this a vintage proprietary scope base for what would be a matching set of Bushnell rings? This particular base is a #76-0053 for Winchester Models 88 and 100 as well as for Sako Finnwolf. I have many others for different models. Any information would be appreciated.

I've got a set of them on my Marlin 336 in 30-30.
Days of yore to use your iron sights with the mere smack of your mitt.

Complete sets are preferred.

Check out Weaver's site, there should be a part # list and what they X over to.

Can't find anything on line related to this Bushnell system. I take it this is a 'roll-off' design as you indicated that tips out of the way for irons in the event this is necessary. I have no rings, so I surmise these bases are worthless to anyone at this point. Maybe someone will chime in with a description of how the rings attach to the bases and how they operate.

I miss the fish, but I do like Mr. Capp. :)

It was Weaver made them not Bushnell, but they were marketed by Bushnell for a while late 70's

I have seen the tip off rings for sale at gunshows, probably find a set if you look around.

Just stuck a two piece set on my new to me Belgium BAR in .308win.
A great CGN'r sent them my way.
Should get some photos up soon.

This one sports the two piece bases and an M8 6X Leupold.
Couldn't get a 3-9x40 on it.

Dang it. Gotta find that poor coo-coo clock and get'im up on the wall.

That setup looks familiar...

These are the original Weaver "Tip-Off" mounts/rings, designed for a quick transition from scope to irons with a smack of yer mitt as Looky pointed out.
I'll take a look, I may have a set of rings still.

That is a Weaver pivot mount base, not Bushnell. I have used them on several rifles, and they are actually quite secure and work well. I have shot a lot of small groups while pivoting them off and back on the base between shots.

They rings use screws with conical ends in the pivot to secure the rings to that base. The screws can be turned to adjust the tension of the pivot.

I still have a set of them around here somewhere. Will post a picture if can find them.

Its a weaver pivot base, all you need are the pivot rings and pins to go with it. Had several of them back in the day when most guns still came with open sights and the pivot scope mount gave you an easy option if scope fogged or got full of snow or rain drops. Never had a zero problem when switching back and forth. My son still has a set on his 760 in .308

Yes, the rings are universal for all the Weaver pivot mount bases. Some are one piece, like the one shown in the OP, some are two piece, front and rear, but all take the same rings.

I'm sure you can find any number of them on eBay.

I have a Leupold one-piece base for the Win 88,100/SAKO Finnwolf receivers. If you have or prefer Leupold rings, that might help you out.

You would not have the pivot feature that the Weaver base, however.

I have a few of those ring/base combos as well. The only problem is not knowing what they came off of.
Any such thing as a reference to see what they might fit by the part number ????
