Dates have been changed. See below.

We have our range bookings for Vintage Rifle Shoots at Camp Borden. There is a chance that these dates will be changed. The military can always pre-empt our booking. I would say that each date is about 90% firm. I will let you know if there is any change. MARK YOUR CALANDER!!

Amiens range at 8:00. Pack a lunch or Soup and Sandwich at Tim’s. Hope to finish around 5:00.

May 16 Amiens

May 30 Amiens (New Date to repalce lost June date)

Sept 25 Mons

Don’t let the name “Vintage” affect your rifle choice. The main thing is to bring out a rifle or two and do some shooting. I am going to shoot a Lee Enfield, a M14, a SKS and a Moisin Nagant. The only thing to remember is that we shoot some of the shoots from the standing position, so a 20X target scope would not be a good choice.

As usual, we will have a fine selection of $6 wine as prizes….

The best news is that we will have the range to ourselves. We can start at 100 yards and then move back. I am working on the course of fire now. I would like a course of fire that allows us to zero the rifles and then shoot from various positions. My tentative course of fire is as follows. If you have any ideas or suggestions, this would be the time to speak up.

N.B. 1 shooter at each target and 1 in the butts, marking. Prone shooting can use a rest, so long as the rifle rests on a hand, with the back of the hand on the rest. (I rest my hand on an ammo can.)

100 yards

Deliberate from the prone position. 5 shot group for zero, and then 10 shots on score.

10 shots standing rapid fire in 45 seconds on Figure 12 (about 20” wide and high). 2 shot group for sighters. Semi-auto must shoot 5 and re-load.

[10 shots standing at walking Fig 12 target. One sighter in each direction. (Our experience is that the target does not require any lead to hit it.)

It should be clear that the above course of fire would be a perfect shooting practice for your deer/moose rifle….

200 yards

Deliberate from the prone position at a pistol target. 5 shot group for zero, and then 10 shots on score.

Snap shoot prone, 10 exposures of 3 seconds each. 2 sighters. On Figure 11

Rapid fire prone. 10 shots in 45 seconds. On Figure 11

Mover, prone. 10 exposures. 1 shot per exposure. 2 sighters. On Figure 11 (Target will require about 6” lead from dead centre.)

300 yards.

Deliberate from the prone position at the 4 foot target. 5 shot group for zero, and then 10 shots on score.

Snap shoot, prone, 10 exposures of 3 seconds each. 2 sighters. On Figure 11
Rapid fire, prone. 10 shots in 45 seconds, on 4 foot target.

Mover, prone. 10 exposures. 1 shot per exposure. 2 sighters. On Figure 11

Ammo required 130

You might want to edit the title of your post - it says June 16. That's a Wednesday, so I'm guessing that Sunday May 16 is the correct date. And just to be clear, is it Amiens or Mons? Both are indicated in the post. Anyway, I'm looking forward to it.
