With the ammunition shortage I was looking for #4 shotshells when I ran across these at the LGS, the only shells I could find so I picked up a couple of boxes. I remember using these as a kid and it looks like I'll be using these paper hulled wonders again.

Well, I guess I might as well say it - I love the smell of the fired hulls. That's all that my old Dad ever used in his Tobin double. I bought every box I found at a reasonable price at gun shows. Gotta feed my Ithaca double.

I bought the same shells and older when my LGS had a bunch they took in on trade couple years ago even before the ammo problems. The price was reasonable also but I have many old shotguns that need fed also. Was the only box of 3 inch magnum buckshot I ever seen also with 25 in the box plus I bought all the old slugs and buckshot. I don't know about the smell but it does return me to my youth at least.

My son nailed a wild roosters on a 50 yard crossing shot this year with one of those!
Maximum dram 1 1/4 ! LOL
I have been burning up some duco coated 20 gauge #4's and 5's lately, they don't build ammo like that anymore!

About a decade ago, a local CT had a bunch Imperial CIL... I was joking with with the guy behind the counter (who turned out to be the store manager) how long they kept stuff on the self?
- Pointing to some old boxes of 12G with a faded sticker of $9.99... Got 7x of them for $5/each

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BACK IN THE DAY :)
Yes and still do some special ones. But despite trying every powder known to man could never get that smell on a reload :(
Thousands and thousands of the federal paper target hulls :)

I am saving my 16 gauge Canuck and Imperial hulls, so that I can reload with fibre wads. I would like to use Herco powder, but have been unable to find load data so far.

You want to get your hands on a NO.1 and NO.2 lyman shotshell reloading manual. I am not 100% sure if imperial / herco is there but that would be your best bet
If I get time once the snow comes I will dig for mine and have a look
Too many garden things to get done right now sorry and it will take me probaly a day to find what tote they are in :(
Cheers

The only paper shells in those books are Federal hulls and no Herco just looked at my set 3M1. Hodgdons # 21 book shows data for Win and Fed paper tubes with HS6 and fiber. I still load Herco and Lujutic wads but in plastic hulls.
