I came across this vintage Redfield M-294 scope and mount. Does anyone have this on a Winchester Model 94? How do you like it?

That is very interesting. Certainly a new one on me and 94s have been in my life for over 60 years.

Is the dovetail the only thing holding it on?? Doesn't seem adequate if so.

You have to drill and tap the barrel Also, I have one :/ with the tap and drill it comes with.
I was going to use it on a rimfire rifle sorta a .22rf scout rifle?
The glass is very good in mine, but it is only a 3/4" tube!

XS Sites makes a simiar setup. Their's requires tapping a hole on the front of the receiver. It also locks in the rear sight dovetail with a set screw. I mounted a Burris Fast Fire III on my son's rifle with one of these. Incredibly fast to use. It may offend the iron sight purist though.

I wish Beeman still made the SS-1 2.5X scopes. With a modified air rifle base mounted on the bolt of the pre-angle eject 94's, this be the ideal setup fer me. ;)
