Glocker hooked me us as i was ordering a BCG from him anyway
+1 on Glocker, just a solid guy to work with
i used the clamp style blocks where they hold the upper and you put it in to a vice. i used C-clamps cuz i dont have a shop but it works well if you can secure it.Grizzlypeg said:Its the way to install the barrel nut and not damage the upper receiver from clamping force.
I built my own from bondo and plywood , works great!
Barrel blocks are cheaper and accomplish the same thing. Some prefer them when removing stubborn flash hiders since this puts no torque on the receiver.
I paid about $100 for the "critical tools kit" from Brownells. What a great buy that has proven to be. I can see how you could get by without the vise blocks but with them it is so quick, easy and you don't need to worry about marking your rifle. The right tools really do make the job so much easier.
