***Note to mods: Since most of the threads and recommendations for this scope came from this subforum and it would mostly be of interest to black rifle shooters, I am posting the thread here instead of the Optics subforum***

This scope came with good reviews and I found it ok for short distance work, both eyes open. Only tested it out to 100m with acceptable results. During a range session last week, the screws holding the battery housing to the scope body vibrated loose and the thing fell apart. It was mounted on a T97 where it may have seen 2-300 rounds and on a compensated 16" AR, maybe another 12-1500rds. I am posting this thread as a warning to potential buyer and as a test of the manufacturer's warranty claim process. I've had the scope a little less than a year and I reported the warranty issue a few minutes ago.

They will send you a new pos scope from China I'm sure....I'm surprised it lasted that many rounds lol

We'll see how they respond and how quickly they respond. I know at least one CGN member has run his through a whole bunch of cqb matches and the scope itself isn't bad so far.. Some loctite on the screws would have prevented this from happening, though lol

They told me to ship the scope back, finally got around to taking it off the rifle, weighing it and measuring the package.. The cheapest option is in the $45 ballpark... We'll see how they'll react to that.. Probably cheaper for them to just ship me a new one lol

Lol, now they're asking for ME to pay the shipping, saying ground costs $20.. Guess what.. I don't wanna wait for 2 months or pay out of my own pocket because of THEIR defective product. That's what I told'em. We'll see how she goes but it's not looking good.

Update: Basically they never replied, which to me says that they don't stand behind their product. Verdict: Stay away from Visionking junk. The mfgr will leave you high and dry once it fails on you.

Edit: Been notified by another shooter that their battery housing also fell off. Considering the fact that both scopes have only been run on poodle-shooters, that'll tell you something about their quality manufacturing......

I always ask what type of recoil/shock an optic can take. If the guy can't answer he is probably selling something he has
1) Not tested and
2) Airsoft grade

Try a Leupold 1-4. Big, generous eyebox and forgiving eye relief with excellent clear glass and wide FOV. With any half ass cheek weld its no slower than an RDS. Go illuminated for CQB. Oh and full kickass warranty that covers return shipping, and is in Canada. Money well spent.

Sad to hear. Usually is the true test of any vendor is after sales support. Most fail and a few shines out.

Have you looked into an approved distributor in north america? Perhaps the shipping cost can be better.

Didn't bother.. This was bad enough and I don't wanna spend more time/energy on that crap. I'm done with them. Currently running an M21 with a 3x magnifier (only mounted as needed), which is more than enough for what we have in Ontario.

Sorry to hear about you luck bud. I read through all the posts and it seems like they would probably send you a replacement once they have the broken item in hand. You paying shipping seems a reasonable course of action does it not? If I buy something from said store do I tell them they have to pay my gas to take it back? It's the one downside of online ordering. I don't think you can say they are a horrible company that doesn't stand behind their product. Sounds like they were more than willing to fix it in the first place but you just wanted it completely for free. Just my two cents.

Thanks for your perspective... My problem with this was that the cheapest option to ship (BARELY worth it if time wasn't a factor) would have taken several months until I had a working scope on my rifle. Based on my experience and that of at least one other CGNer, the replacement would have ended up with the same issue - most likely airsoft grade scope that just can't deal with the recoil of even a poodle-shooter. Imagine mounting that on a 308, for example. Might be ok for airsoft kiddies, but these people aren't ready to hit prime time just yet.

I just sent in a Zeiss optic that was defective and they never paid for my shipping to the company. Not many companies offer free shipping to the repair depot. I know Leupold and Vortex both mkae you pay your own shipping to them.

$60 shipping an optic within Canada sounds like you were misquoted, Ive mailed rifle across the country worth over 1k for less then that.

I've sent in scopes from a handful of companies, from Tasco to Zeiss and the buyer (me) is always stuck with $25 - $40 to ship to the depot, and often then also charged $10 - $20 return shipping too, even on $1500 optics. That's just a fact of life.

Same thing with high end, lifetime warranty fly rods, etc. $600 to buy the rod, $40 to ship for repairs at my end, $15 to get shipped back, and a two month wait...

Warranties are not always all they are meant to be, even with solid, respectable companies.

i guess it wouldn't hurt to maybe check for tightness before and maybe after a few hundred rounds and it wouldnt have fallen apart.... i am no expert but maybe, anything with china on it i would use but be cautious

Tell me about it, I bought a brand new Triumph Scrambler in Kelowna two years ago and the thing broke down as I was going home to Kamloops. They made me pay the tow bill.
