Visit with "smellie" yesterday

Had to go to Virden, so I loaded up four rifles to take over to George's to show him. In the pile I had a No.4 Mk1 POF (yes, it is a No.4 Mk1), a No.4 Mk2 POF, an Ishapore SMLE that started life as a .303, then switched to .410, then back to .303, properly marked, restored with new wood by Stuart Hardcastle, and my classic target rifle I posted about in Target and Precision some time ago. Jeez, I didn't think I was going to be able to pry that one out of George's hands.

He showed me some of his old lamp stands. My goodness! He has some dillies!

We had a good visit. The man is full of good stories, and is a walking library.

Unfortunately his skin isn't thick enough to put up with some of the people you find online.

And Enfield shooting modern 410 is on my list of guns "I'd love to try, probably own"

Dont want to derail the OP, but I have one of the 410 Enfields and I would like to have the chamber reamed so I could shoot factory 3" 410 shells. I have asked before if anyone can recommend someone that could do this work but get no responses.

If anyone can help me out would you either post it or PM me.

You restored the wood on an Ishapore SMLE...out of curiousity, did the new wood set get an Ishapore screw??
