G'day

Looking to get my hands on a Vltor lower and upper at some point. Trouble is I'm a lefty. Anyone out there use one of these bad ass looking pieces and care to let me know your thoughts on left handed use with that large right handed mag release?

Thanks in advance!

Talked to Vltor today and they told me to look at the norgon ambi mag release. They say it will fit thier lower with a little fitting. Brownells carry's it for about $90 bucks. If I end up buying a Vltor lower from them, they are more than happy to help me out by sending out details I need to make it fit and function properly. That was awesome customer service just from my general inquiry this morning. Jeff O'brien was full of wonderly useful information, and all from a "potential" customer. My mind is made up. Vltor it is!

O.K You are looking at this wrong.
You are giving your money to someone selling you a product that does not fit your needs 100%. And on top of that you will have to spend a Few Hundred More just to make it 'right' ??
Just because he was nice on the phone???

Call up One Shot and pick up a KAC Lower. Top of the line - right out of the box.
No messing around, no aftermarket parts that need 'fitting' to function properly (you hope). I would not spend $700 on a lower and have hack my Lower to 'fit' parts to it.

Spend a little and get the best

Where does one get a mega lower in Canada?

Email Darren at OST for the knights lower and email Saskatoon Gunworks for the mega ambi lower. With mega you have to specify ambi they produce them both ways...

And I agree with others, don't butcher a basic lower, spend the money to get what suits your needs, you'll be happy you did. Both manufacturers are top notch!

Good luck

Vltor, KAC or indeed top choices in the high end AR market. Honestly the KAC does nothing for me though. I know they make good products but, I think someone buying an AR is like someone buying reloading equipment or vehicles. People buy Fords, others Dodge, Chevy, Fiat, Mercedes, etc... I'm planning on building a Mega ambi in 308 next year, but this years project is the AR-15. I still can't pry my eyes off the Vltor though. 50calshooter's build blew me away!

Talking with Jeff over at Vltor though, the only thing that needs to be fitted for the norgon ambi is that it is too long to fit in thier lower and still work with thier oversized mag release on the right side. He said it oversized button is roll-pinned to a modified version of a mag release. Other than carefully taking that apart and then shortening the norgon, it will all go back together and function as it should. See that's the part that blew me away by Vltor. I asked a simply question to them as a potential customer and they went way over and beyond to help me out. I have simply not experienced that in a loooooong time, and it made up my mind which platform to buy.

Now i just need to unload my Norc, so I can start to fund the Vltor!

Funny thing is, that it is the norc that started me looking at some king of ambi mag release. My norc came stock with a norgon copy/type ambi mag release for me. I noticed almost no others had it. This was all done by mear fluke, since I bought my first AR last year as a trial to get into the AR game. Was not sure I wanted in, but saw the norc as a good cheap platform to try. Well now I'm hooked. Also want to build a NEA platform for my son/daughter to play with as well. They are only 3 and 9 months, so I have some time to build it.

Thanks
