VLTOR VIS monolithic upper receiver

Im interested in getting one of these in the 12" model. Anyone have any experience with these? I know Vltor is good quality stuff but I'm a little concerned about the forward assist not being machined in.
 
I have the 12" model. Forward assist is solid as a rock. It's mated to the Vltor lower. Very happy overall.

Hows the weight of the Vis 12, I am interested in getting one, but never have a chance to see it in person.
 
It is light, you'll have to get the specs off of Vltors website. Mine is a fair bit heavier due to the heavy 18" barrel, certainly not due to the mono upper itself.

I have a 10 inch one, I think its heavy. Do you really need a quad rail. I would go with something else if I was building a rifle today, most likely troy alpha.

The Vltor Specs includes and indicates the whole system ( reciever and rails), i need some info regarding just the rail part, maybe I can get the regular MUR weight and subtracted to the whole system, it might not be accurate though, I am familiar how a 10.oz handguard feels, just need a reference.
 
Vltor showed the prototype during shotshow, we played with them and they are very very nice. However, they need to catch up with the production of other backorders until they start production on it.

FYI, we already obtain the export permit for the VIS-KM.

I have the VIS-1-AK and I beat it like it owes me money and NO problems with the forward assist, if you are still concerned with that.
