I'm interested in one of these, but have heard little on it. How does this rail upper stack up?

Not exactly sure how it performs, but its apparently made by "welding" a partly machined Mil-Spec forged A3 (i think its A3, without the M4 feed ramps) upper reciever to a partly machined rail, then they finish machine the whole thing.

This makes it able to use standard AR15 barrels, without weird or fancy attaching methods.

Its also got an indexing ring for an M203, which is pretty cool, you dont have to mickey mouse with the standard mounting hardware.

Supposedly they have a stronger bottom mount for rail mounted 203's. although that may or may not matter.


It seems like a nice upper, although i have only read a bit on it.

It has M4 feed ramps and the process of machining it as 2 parts then fusing it together isn't what makes it accept standard AR barrels it just makes it cheaper.

FWIW I like my VIS, although I'm noticing some durability issues. Its relatively cheap and it gets the job done. Heres a pic of mine:

Anyway you might not be able to get it, I heard they are having export issues for the VIS.

Not a whole lot of problems but the proprietary barrel wrench and barrel nut are not of the best quality, and the modular F/A starts to get loose after being tossed around a bit.

That i can see. Is the FA only held in by a roll pin?

the barrel nut seemed kinda thin walled from the pictures.
