Looking for some information on Voere's in Canada. Were there a lot of them imported? You don't see them often or hear much about them and when searching google it seems prices are all over the place for even the same gun, depending on location.

Generally are they considered to be high quality? Are they known for their accuracy, what makes them notable, or are they duds? Looking to learn from folks who have handled them used them and like or dislike them as a result of their experience with them.

I have my eye on a 308, looks like a Mauser type action. It looks to be very well used but am told its still a great shooter.

Thanks in advance.

They're well made good quality rifles and still available brand new in Canada at the following dealer.

I have a Voere in 7mmRem mag which I purchased new in the late 1960's. I was my first, and for some years, my only big game rifle. It is reliable and accurate. The action is very "sloppy" compared to others such as Tikka and Ruger, but mine has been hunted for many years, and in all kinds of weather conditions, and has never had a problem. It doesn't get out too much these days, but I would definitely still trust it to get the job done.

There were 2 Voeres, one from Kufstein Austria and still in business and the other from Germany and was bought up by Mauser. I've had rifles from both as well as a .22 from Mauser that was a Voere(Germany) design. The German Voere was named from the town it was based in...Voerenbach Germany. The Austrian Voeres were not typically Austrian in regards to price and were good guns at reasonable prices.

I have a Voere 2165 in 7mm mag for the past 25 years. The actions are Mauser and they are very loose. That being said it has taken many moose but I would not call it a tack driver. The best accuracy achieved was 11/2" at 100 yards. I would not trust this rifle past 200 yards. The moose were shot at 100 yards or less. A few as close as 50 yards. They were dead before they new it

Well, not the last I've seen and handled... they were on the rough side for the price..
anyways, keep in mind that quality goes up and down and all those newly manufactured, unlike the older ones (some were made on FN commercial receivers), are made from ex-military receivers (from any origins). Search the forum for older threads, this have been discussed up and down.

I have an Austrian in .308, I'm not impressed with the stock it is thin and cracks easily ,that said the gun itself performs exceptionally, my brother who was in the forces and a much better shot then I am could put 4 shots through the womans head on an export A package at 100 yrds that would be the size of a nickle .I was going to trade it but ordered a Boyds thumbhole stock for it instead ...can't wait to get it
