Well I just installed Volquartsen's high performance kit for the 10/22 on a brand new rifle, and I gotta say that overall I'm not that impressed. Spending this much for a Volquartsen product I would have expected a bit better. On the postive side, yes the trigger pull is reduced. On the negative...
- there's about 1/100" more side slop with the new hammer/bushings than the brand new stock ones - about 4 or 5/100" total by looks of it.
- the ends of the new style hammer return spring rub against the inside walls of the trigger housing scratching it up.
- the safety doesn't work (looks like some filing needs to be done on bottom side of the sear).
- and to add insult to injury the Volquartsen representative (who was on another line at that moment) didn't return my message to their secretary that I'd like to ask a question regarding the HP kit.

Does anyone have some experience with this kit as to what they've done regarding the trigger group issues?

You are not the first person by far who has had problems with these kits and that sucks! They send them with shims but that doesn't mean that they sent enough of them. You may have to shim the hammer some more to take up some side play. I myself put a power custom one in mine and it worked amazingly well ( so far.....) , but had a friend put one in his and hated it so he also had to rework it........ I guess the moral is we should have got a Kidd group.

I just did this install the other day also had the safety not work. I just touched the dremel to the bottom of the sear and it slid as it should.

Check out the video section on their website - they have a clip showing how to install it

The video I found didn't use the same hammer spring that came with my HP action kit.

My biggest pi$$ off was the trigger set screew for the over travel, mine is loose (almost seems to be the wrong size set screew) and just moves in and out as you fire. I also now have pre travel and I don't like it. The letoff is crisp and light now tho.

You could put a little bit of medium strength threadlocker loctite on the screw, set it where you like it and then let it harden. That is what I did to mine it seemed to work well. I aslo set my sear adjustment screw with loctite ( that was alot more messing around) but worked fantastic, nice crisp trigger with no overtravel.......almost as nice as my Jewell..........:D
