hey folks. just a quick fyi re the volquartsen pc9 race hammer.
i purchased from wanstalls. i didn't install right away as i was waiting for some other parts to complete the project. when i did get around to installing it i determined that it did not fit. wanstalls was no help as it was outside their 30-day return period. volquartsen did not reply to my inquiries. so, my advice is to get those wanstalls parts installed right away otherwise yer on your own. given that i had the opportunity to peruse the wanstalls return terms, note also that original packaging is required even if returning a defective item (so don't get all excited like i did and tear the package open) and the 30-day clock starts ticking the moment the order is placed, so if you live a ways away you may only have a few days to confirm your part is not defective.
re the hammer itself, it consists of a bushing that is inserted into the hammer with a cap that fits on the other end (there is a volquartsen install video if interested). the bushing fit neither the hammer nor the cap; it was either oversize or out of round. it took me A LOT of time filing and fitting to get it to work.
ps, i've no axe to grind here, just stating the facts as they applied to me so that y'all don't encounter the same thing. i know some folks like to get all their parts together before completing a build, but that might be a risky proposition unless you are certain of the quality of the part and the goodwill of the vendor.
