Any of you guys installed a Volquartsen target hammer on a Remington 597
22 WMR ?

I'm looking at buying one of these (don't know where to get one though????) and trying it out. Will this reduce the triger pull and will I notice any difference in shooting?

Never did anything like this to a rifle and just wondering your opinions on it and if this is a good thing to do? Also, how difficult is it to install, I don't have a gunsmith around here so I would have to do it myself....and I'm not the best at fooling with these things!

thanks

I replaced mine with the VQ target hammer, you'd be glad you replaced it. The trigger pull of my 597 improved a lot lighter. The trigger pull felt like 4 lbs after I replaced it with VQ target hammer, compared to the Rem factory trigger pull of maybe 8-10 lbs? I highly recommend replacing it. :)

I replaced the hammer on my 597 (albeit a regular .22lr) with the Volquartsen hammer, was most def. worth the money. Really helped the trigger pull by getting rid of the creep and dropping the weight down to 4lb. Well worth the 32 bucks or so that it costs.

Well........I guess I'll let you guys know how it turns out. I just bought one and hopefully it will get here in a week or so.

Anybody know how they are shipped by HawkTech Arms (global express, airmail, etc) ? I couldn't find anywhere in Canada that have these for sale.

It certain can't be any worse than the factory trigger!

Nice little gun for fooling around. I just put my Burris FF II on it and going to try to get this thing shooting really tight!

thanks for the advice guys

Well, it arrived today. I installed it in about 10 minutes and it was a fairly easy procedure. The shipping was free and it was quick, given the location I live!

The trigger certainly feels much lighter/smoother than the factory, but I havn't been out shooting it yet. We'll see how it goes but I can say that I am pleased with this purchase. I would recommend it to anybody looking to add a little zip to the 597.

FWIW
