So I am probably going to get a new pair of binos in the new year.I like the vortex viper hd and the razor hd.My question for anyone that has them is,are the razors worth the extra cost.Trying to get some more info.
Thanks

I've actually spent quite a bit of time looking thru the Viper and Razor HD binos, trying to decide if its worth the extra $ for the tiny bit of increase in quality and optics of the Razors. I honestly don't think that you can go wrong with either series actually. Just to muddy the waters a little further, this week I looked thru the Vortex Talon 10x42s, and they looked fantastic as well, for less then half the price of the Razors, and now I'm thinking that the extra 800$ I save can go towards my other gun projects.
You should try and find a dealer who has all 3 series, and compare them all at one time to try and make your decision though as everyones eyes see thru scopes and binos a bit differently.

A good friend of mine has the vipers, he absolutely loves them! I am going to try out a pair of steiner peregrines and bushnell elite ED this week, I will be interested to compare them with his vipers and my old Japanese legend!

I have ViperHD 10x42. Did not mene to purchase it but middle of my hunt trip, my ol bino snapped by my own fault... drove down to local shop and picked up viperHD .. It sure is clear than leupold in my mind. (oops)

I also have the Talon HD in 10x42.. They both are an amazing binos and if you want to safe few dollars, goto talons. Very little difference is my own opinion from owning both.. and dont ask why i have two binos......

Best place to read up on binocular reviews is on the birdwatcher websites. Here's a few:

Once you get into the price range of the Razor HD, you're getting near the prices of the best ones like Zeiss Victory,Leica Ultravid and Swarovski EL. Check out Camera Land NY, they're a sponsor here. Look under their demo units, most are like new at the best prices you'll find. Have a look at the new Leica Trinovid and Swarovski CL line as well. Buy once, cry once.

I love my Razors. They're fantastic quality glass. I bought the non-HD when they were brand new, and the HD are definitely a jump up.

I prefer vortex having dealt with their warranty service and having struggled with Swarovski and Leica service

I agree with the other posters. I have tried the new Razor HDs on a muley hunt this fall and compared them with the viper HD's that a buddy in camp had. You won't see much difference in normal light or in a store but in those last 15 minutes of hunting light, Razors and other high end glass shine. The buy once, cry once post is totally true. If you have the bucks, try the new Swarovisions out they are out of this world even compared to the Razor HDs. Good luck, you can't go wrong with Vortex and you get there VIP warranty which nobody else is coming close to right now.

i have used the viper hd's for two seasons. Great glass and good solid body. only issue is i wish i bought the 10x42's instead of the 8's. the 8's are better for close bush but for counting tines it would be nice to have the extra power
i just looked at the price for the razors... wow you could buy a spotting scope and a pair of vipers.
last year on boxing day grouse river had the vipers for $350. check their site soon to see if they come up with that price again
