Hello:

Does anyone have any experience with this scope on a 10/22? I like what I have heard about this scope, but I'm concerned about its short length of only 12.3 inches as it relates to possible eye fatigue. I've heard some on another forum express this complaint.

My other concern, in conjunction with the above, is given its short length, might it not be able to come back enough on the rings to reach my eye comfortably.

Anyone have experience with this scope specifically on the Ruger?

Thanks so much,

p.s. I didn't know whether or not to place this here or in the scope section since my question is specific to my 10/22

Hello Superbrad:

It is the 3-9x40 BDC.

p.s. I made a mistake in the length above it's not 12.3 inches long but only 11.7 inches

Ok... same as I have on one of my rem 700's ..... but mine is plain vplex (which shouldn't make a difference)... I will try it ou this afternoon on my 10/22 and let you know.... but the 10/22 currently sports a crossfire 2-7 which I believe may be even shorter....

Is it a centerfire scope or a rimfire one? If it is is a centerfire model it is probably set to be parallax free at 100yds and may give you some problems at shorter distances. http://www.opticstalk.com/topic5026_page1.html
Exactly why not just get a specific rimfire scope like the Nikon prostaff 150 bdc.Its a 3x9 with parallax set at 50 yds.Centre on reticle set at 50 yds then your next circle is 75 /100/125.Takes a lot of guess work out.$200 at cabales. Great glass an gets very good review s I have this scope on my sr22.

Any....and i mean any scope designed for a big rifle is a improvement over those cheap 22 scopes. Eye relief for a 22 is a non issue...you are certainly not going to scope/brow yourself, and i doubt it is much different on the Vortex than any other value scope.

Most of the time i end up putting a "leper" old scope off a trade on a 22. Certainly would see no way you could lose here. If you did not like the Vortex on the 10/22 it could easily go on a centerfire....reverse leper.....so to speak.

Save the cheap 22 scopes for kids trying to light ants on fire on a sunny day.

I tried the 3-9 diamondback on my 22..... pointed around the yard and out to about 150.... op... I dont see a problem.... it should b3 good to go.... and just for kicks I tried a 4-12 diamondback and it was gòod to go too....

I have one "rimfire" specific scope only because I wanted something cheap and 2-7 all the rest are centerfire scopes. No problems with shooting nice groups at 50 but I'm not a competition shooter either.

I don't see where they say it is for rimfire here https://www.vortexcanada.net/product/diamondback-3-9x40-riflescope-with-dead-hold-bdc-reticle-moa/
If I search rimfire on their site this is what I get https://www.vortexcanada.net/?s=rimfire&post_type=product
Or get any scope of a little higher magnification with an Adjustable Objective (AO) and you can use it parallax free on any gun.

Thanks Elimsprint: I see what you mean. The 3-9x40 Diamondback looks like too much scope for my little 10/22.

Given your last statement, could you make any suggestions of other scopes that you think might marry well with the 10/22 other than the 2-7x35 Diamondback Rimfire?

Thanks,

Where are you in ontario?... I have a 2-7 crossfire 2 on my 22 and I swear by it.... you are welcome to try it

The circles on the Nikon make the reticle way too busy, covers the target.
I have never had an issue with the circles being in my way.Im used too BDC reticles as I have the Vortex 4-16 x40BDC on my Carbon Fluted X bolt 270win.There also on sale for $179 at cabelas.Read a few reviews on the Prostaff 150bdc reticle scope its a lot of bang for the buck.

Thanks,

3-9 is not too much for a 10/22
