Backstory: I have or rather had a Bushnell Trophy 6-18x40 on my .300, it crapped out hard. The magnification ring feels like you are trying to turn while gripping with a piece of sandpaper, and even with the windage maxxed out the point of impact is about 6" right of the point of aim.

I am therefore in the market for a new scope and find that the Diamonback fits my budget and has primarily good reviews. So will it when properly mounted withstand magnum level recoil? I'd hate to have to test the much vaunted Vortex warantee.

I too am interested in this. I have a Browning LH .300WSM just crying out for a scope. I have been debating the vortex diamondback or a leupold. But I am open to suggestions and other's advice.

go vortex if you have to use the warantee

Go Leupold if you don't want to use the warranty, LOL. I have what amounts to a VX II (fx 2.5 ultralight) on my 45-70 that weighs 6.5 ounces and has held up to some pretty stout loads.

The bushnell elites are all magnum tested to 10,000 rounds of 375 H&H...

I have had a Diamondback 4-12X40 on my .300 Win Mag for about 5 years and put over 500 rounds through it and the only POI shift was when I changed my loads. I cannot comment on their warranty because I have not needed it for any of my Vortex optics :).

Thank you gentlemen, this is all the info I was looking for I just don't want to waste anymore money this year. So far in last 2 years I have had 3 crap optics, 2 Bushnells one was the cheap package scope on a since sold Savage axis, and like I said in the op a seized magnification ring on a Trophy xlt (it's going to go in for warrantee) and a hard lesson learned on Scorpion optics (never again will I buy a scope named for an arachnid).

Just a question for all that may interest the OP. I've looked through 2 vipers and 2 diamond backs and although the specs for eye relief are the same I found the diamond back eye relief quite short, especially on the older one (coincidence). What are everyone else's experience?

I've got the Diamondback 3.5-10x50 on my 7mm rem mag. Wonderful scope and nice and clear. The turrets have a nice positive click and can be reset to zero after sighting in. Power ring is much smoother and lighter effort than the Bushnell trophy I have on my other rifle.
