What do you think would be better bang for buck scope? I was looking at the Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40, the Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50, and the Vortex Viper 3-9x40. Respectively, they were $349, $369 and $449. Is anyone familar with these scopes? I imagine I could get those prices down a bit... my big question is this... which one do you think is worth its price?

You could always throw a Burris FF II 3x9x40 to help confuse you more. Its in the same price category. I have one and also a Elite 3200, and I prefer the Burris.
I have never looked through the glass on a Vortex, but I have read a few threads here where the guys who have tried them Like them.

Sorry I could not answer you question.

One of the big selling points for me was the outstanding warranty on the Viper. As it's the only scope I've ever had, I can't compare it, but I do love the scope. It was recommended to me by a noted local shooter and dealer (RangeSports Unlimited, and no, he wasn't selling them) named Paul Reibin.

Here is your anserw. I have owned both bushnell and Vortex, hands down go with the Vortex but go with the Vortex Viper series. My friend is all about Leopold well after comparing my Viper with his VXIII and the price difference he now sports a Viper 6.5-20x50mm. I have bought 2 of the Vortex Viper 6.5-20X50mm. And the warranty is unreal. Another friend who also bought a Vortex thought it was out on the elevation, so he called vortex they sent him the same scope no questions asked and they told him to send the other one back when he receives the new one!! Unheard of in this type of business. Best price for a Vortex Viper is Grouse river outfitters in Kelowna, B.C. 6.5-20x50mm Viper for $608 plus vortex has a $50 mail in rebate.

You can get an Elite 3200 3-9 at P&D in Edmonton for $241.00, $349.00 is way too much dough for this scope. FS

Buy a used VX III or 4200 on the EE.....can't go wrong with either scope, even used. The warranty is great, and you'll get way more scope for your money this way seeing as the scopes are cheaper and you don't have to add the tax....I'm seeing VX III's for 450 shipped and 4200's for 400ish....that's the way I'd go :).

I own 4200's and Leupold VX III's which are great scopes but I can't see a lick of differnce between them and a Vortex Viper. The Vortex also has the better warranty of the 2.

You will never regret spending the little extra money on a Elite 4200. Can't beat them for the price.

Well, I don't own any Vortex riflescopes but I do own Vortex binos. So take my opinion for what it's worth.
I wanted new binos and I read lots of good reviews on the Vortex Viper. So I went to a dealer and tested the $600 Viper 8x42 and the $400 Fury. The store only had one of each in stock. Well, the cheaper Fury seemed better than the Viper. Both of them exhibited color fringing in bright light (when watching high contrast images like a white window frame on a gray house). Now, my old $50 Bushnell Bushmaster 10x50 binoculars show no fringing at all. I mean none. I agree it's bulky and heavy and perhaps not water/fog proof but I was expecting more from binoculars priced 12 times more.
So I wrote to Vortex about the issue and they told me it's normal for low priced binos (how is $600 +tax low priced, I don't know). Should I buy the Razor series, the chromatic aberrations would be way less noticeable. Well, $1000 binos were not in my books so I went for the Vortex Fury and decided to live with it. I wonder whether the Bushnell Elite E2 are better form the fringing point of view.

A little update: after having purchased the Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40, I liked it so much, I just bought another one for my varmint gun! I looked through a few different ones, but for the price, Vortex hands down!!!

Vortex will be my next purchase. Ill put my Minox on my hmr and put a really really big magnification Vortex on my .223... ive heard nothing but great reviews for their scopes.
