Just wondering if anyone out there has had any actual experience with the new Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60x52? I'm in the market to upgrade the scope on my long range bench rig and have been looking at scopes with grater magnification than 25 power. After considering offerings from Leupold, Nightforce, USO and S&B (the last two are way out of my price range and the USO only went to 25x) I thought I had settled on a Sightron 8-32 SIII but well visiting the local WS happened on one of the Golden Eagles. This scope seems to check all the boxes on my list plus has significantly more magnification than any of the other options I've been considering. I did a quick google search and found it already has a few wins in competition under its belt and several positive reviews. As a matter of fact I could only find one truly negative comment and started thinking this is too good to be true. So back to my original question: has anybody tried one out yet?
PS the one bad comment mentioned the demo scope they tried had mushy feeling clicks in the elevation turret. I can confirm that of the two scopes I looked at one did indeed have said mushy clicks in both the elevation and windage turrets. The second scope was flawless.

No experience to offer but curious as to your opinion of the optics quality at high magnifications? Were you able to take it outside and crank it up to 40x, 50x, and 60x and look at something in the distance?

The sales staff behind the counter at our local WS is extremely accommodating and let me spend as much time with the scope as I needed. We did go out side and I looked at various targets at various powers and distances. At this particular location I've found a no parking sign I estimate to be at a distance of approximately 250yds. I like using it because it replicates, very roughly, the black, white and reds we see on paper targets. In truth I was shocked at how clear it was on high magnification. Easily clearer at 60x than my Viper PST at 24x. The borders between the three colours was clearly defined with no washing out. I could easily make out the mounting bolts. Adding the aperture ring did exactly what you'd expect. The image became a bit darker but the depth of field increased quite a bit. I'm not going to say it's like strapping your high end spotting scope on your rifle but it's not too far off. I just wish I had a scope of comparable magnification to do a side by side.
I'll add here I haven't had a plethora of high end optics experience. The preceding are just my observations.

I have used one on multiple occasions. I shoot mostly at 700m for practice and the scope performed well at that distance. This scope belongs to a good friend and the fist time out we dialled 17 mins and shot, dialled back to zero and then back to 17 mins..did this three times and all bullet impacts where in the same spot so no tracking worries so far. We compared it side by side with the NF Competition and imo the glass on the Vortex is not quite as good as a NF or newer Sightron. While the scope tracks true, the turrets where definitely mushy compared to a NF or Sightron. I didn't observe any parallax issues whatsoever with the scope and the eye relief seemed ample. All in all I think the scope is a decent value at the current price point but won't be putting one on my rifles. If you go to the oz fclass forum there are a few reviews there as well.
