Vortex muzzle brake for Norinco M4?

I really like the look of Vortex muzzle brakes and was thinking of getting one for my Norinco M4. Anyone done it? any issues with installing?

Whats the thead on the norinco barrel ½"-28 tpi?

You will need to rethread the barrel. While you're at it, you may want to consider cutting it down to 18.5" like many others.

The only thing about the Smith Vortex is that it's a flash hider, not a muzzle brake.

I think he means the newer 1/2x28 ar CQ556. Not the CQ311

Ah. For some reason, I read "M14".

If it's not the CQ311, you should be just fine.

well it is not like it will make it fly or anything.

Mine had a Vortex on it - no issues, threads on no problem.

The Norc doesn`t come with a Cheap`O` muzzle brake. I comes with an A2 style flash hider.

Sorry, being a pain with semantics there. Threads are standard, at least mine was. Spin of the flash hider, spin on the muzzle break, index so gas is vented up, if that is how the brake is designed to work. I think some vent to the side.

There is a thread on this forum somewhere on various breaks. Vortex seem to be well regarded by users who have them.
