Vortex optics

I have a Vortex Nomad spotting scope. Optics are good edge to edge on it and it has a no fault Lifetime Warranty on it. I have seen the scopes and they pretty decent optics for the money. I have not shot with one on a gun though so I can't say much more than that.

I bought a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 this fall and used it as a 'tactical scope'. Great optics/clarity and some very nice features (quick pop-up dials for zeroing, power-ring power adjustment, etc).

Here in Edmonton we have a little store called Nature's Corner Store that handles the Vortex line of optics. They have not brough in the rifle scopes but they do carry the spotting scopes sold as wild life observation scopes. They look OK for the money and I have seen the catolog. Give Henry or Gillian a call at 1-780-433-3474 (Fish) tell them Sue's husband suggested I call. My wife's a pretty good customer of thiers and I'm sure they would appreciate the additional business.

I looked at some of their binox. They make a wide variety of product, the best are as expensive as better such as Nikon, the cheaper are no better than cheap Bushnells. Honestly, I wasn't impressed. The only mitigating consideration is that the shop I was in marks product up as much as they think they can get away with. Internet purchasing might get a better deal but buyer beware, not all of their product is that good.

"Ahem, couch choke,, "Leupold" cough bs cough"

Vortex warranty: Unlimited, unconditional & transferable (no warranty card to fill out) and according to the Vortex site they will repair or replace the product absolutely free — no matter what the cause.

So go ahead and clear your throat and explain to me how much better Leupold's warranty is.

Also, my Viper seems to be able to handle my .300wm just fine.

Not here to argue, enjoy your Vortex scope, make sweet love to it if you like. I never stated anything about better or worse, you simply stated that a Vortex warranty was second to none, I call BS. Leupy offers exactly what you describe with a proven 100+ years in the business and for good reason. Good luck.

I've got the Vortex Diamondback binocs in 10x42. I can sit on the back deck and watch spiders and their webs in the trees 50 yards away. I don't know if that is good or bad as far as binocs go, but I like them.

I'm seriously considering a Vortex scope, something in the 4-12, or 6-20 range. Any long range target shooters care to comment on how well they hold up, the reticle styles, anything at all?
The warranty is impressive, but with the US being cranky about scopes and exporting them to Canada, is this likely to be an issue if it has to be sent back? The company is American.

Being second to none and equal to others is NOT BS. Their warranty is as good as they claim and it is handled by the Canadian Distributer in Guelph Ontario. So far I have not needed their warranty and I don't anticipate I will either.

I have completely switched over to Vortex Optics, I have the Viper 8.5X50 binocs, Diamondback 8X42 binocs, Viper 6.5-20X44 scope, and a Diamondback 2-7X35 BDC scope. I will soon be getting a Skyline 20-60X80 spotting scope too, with their digi-scope adapter.

Give them a try, I am sure you will like them.

I did quite a write up of the Vortex I finally picked up from Natures Corner Store.
I had them bring in a couple so I could take a look at them. Type vortex into the search you should be able to find it!

Thanks Scott. I agree that the crosshairs are a bit thicker than ideal, but still, this is looking more and more like the choice I'll make.

I have a vortex viper 2-7x32, its clear and awsome, beats my vx-II in every aspect, at a lower price. Im selling it though because I sold the rifle it was briefly on and now it doesnt have a home and being a poor university student I need all the cash flow I can get!!!
