I am looking to purchase a new scope for my savage 11/111 long range hunter in 300wsm and would like a 2nd, 3rd or even a 4th opinion lol

As it stands i have narrowed down my choices to 1 of either the Vortex viper pst 4-16x50mm, the Leupold VX-3 long range 4.5-14x50mm, OR the Zeiss Conquest 30mm 4.5-14x50.

Any kind of comparison on the matter would be most helpful!

- I should point out that it will be used mainly for target shooting with the intent of SOME hunting.

Vortex...

Best warranty in the business, Canadian support is not a problem. Loaded with features. Best price/quality ratio. Glass unsurpassed by any other at that price point. Did I mention the warranty?? No receipt needed lifetime transferable warranty covering even everything. I have a pst ordered right now for my personal rifle and a razor in the mail and hopefully arriving today for another rifle. I do not sell vortex but several site supporting dealers do.

how far are you planning on shooting?

(on a side note, I think that Conquest is 1" tube, not a 30mm)

I run Leupolds, NF's and Vortex PST's. For the money Vortex just can't be beat! Not every rifle needs a $2k + scope. That's when Vortex is just awesome at filling the void. They are great, have fantastic glass and offer the same options as some scopes twice their price. I am not saying Vortex is as good as NF....but it certainly is getting there. Get one and enjoy it. You certainly will not regret it.

Vortex Canada is based out of Guelph, Ontario. I would take one of their PST scopes over what leupy puts out in that price range any day of the week and twice on Sundays. The turrets and the reticle options in the VX-3 are crap.

With the Vortex, you're getting better turrets, and they're matched with the reticle (mil/mil or MOA/MOA). You're getting a zero stop in those turrets, and side focus. Plus, the scope is offered in FFP, which makes the reticle more useful. This allows you to use the reticle for holdovers at any magnification, with any load. Simple to do since the reticle is in the same units as your dope and is accurate over the entire magnification range. Illumination is a standard option, so you won't have any trouble seeing the crosshairs even at the lowest magnification.

The Zeiss has some of the turret features and side focus, however the reticles they offer are either mis-matched with the turrets (mil/MOA) or are a bullet drop compensator that is only going to be accurate for a handful of loads, and only at one magnification setting.

Have you tried one...looks ok. ffp, mil clicks
I own a pst and also own an elite tactical 6-24 in sfp. Much nicer glass on the elite and it tracks perfectly. I`ve read great things about the elite 6-24 ffp and it is mil/mil, reviews reflect it to be much better than the pst. The bushnellis made in the same factory as the razor, in Japan. The pst is made in a sweat shop. Is there any truth to you being a Vortex rep? Wondering if there`s any truth to vortex using LOW to manufact. the pst goibg forward

I'm not a vortex rep. I built a gun for one of the vortex guys. He turned me on to them and ive been a fan ever since. If the pst goes to low I am sure it will be a winner. I have a razor and it very high quality. I am looking for something less expensive. That ffp bushnell might do it. I have a 2nd fp 6-24 and a 6500 4.5x30, both ok but want another ffp with mil clicks.
