Been running a Millett DMS 1-4 on my tavor and it's served me well but it's fairly big and bulky especially for a rifle that never sees a target over 300 yards.

I noticed cabelas is having a pretty good sale on the vortex spitfire, strikefire and sparc. Would you guys recommend getting one? Reviews seem decent on YouTube and all that and the price is hard to beat with the sale on right now.

Obviously I'd like an elcan but that won't be happening anytime soon. Thanks in advance.

Maybe head over to the optics subforum and ask?

I have all three. First generation Sparc and Strikefire. I like the Sparc the most.
I've had very little use with the spitfire, its by far the heaviest out of them. Very clear and I like the reticle. 3x is also nice.
I would not buy another strikefire.
I would also check out the Holosun optics

I have a 3x spitfire and I like it a lot. I was using a 10x before, but like you said there's little point when the ranges are short.
It is heavier than the other options, but is available in a 3x rather than just a red dot. And the weight includes the mount. Unlike weights for scopes generally.
I also like that the reticle is etched onto the glass, with my little astigmatism it is nice to be able to dial in the objective. Also no need for battery power to run the sight. Though it does have an illuminated ability.

I've been running a Vortex Sparc2 on my Tavor since last summer and am quite happy with it
Tried a 1-4x scope, but didn't care for it much as I found the field of vision too narrow
My Sparc2 has been used on really hot humid days, rainy days, and very cold days like the crap weather in Ottawa last Sunday... no problems
The dot is nice and bright for daytime use

Thanks guys, ended up going with the spitfire as its a prisim optic and it's the only one that works with my astigmatism. When I look through any normal red dot I actually see a cluster of about 10 little dots rather than one. This happens on aim points, eotechs you name it. Only traditional scopes, prisim sights and trijicons (agog and alike) work for me

On a side note for anyone with astigmatism who might stumble upon this, through the years and trying almost every type of sight I could get my hands on I've made the discovery that prisim sights and scopes that are capable of reaching 1x power actually correct my astigmatism and give me 20/20 vision.

Just today comparing my 1x vortex spitfire and my glasses (which I never wear but correct me to 20/20) I could read license plates down my street just as well through the sight with my bare eyes as I could with my prescription lenses.

Just some useful info I wish I could have read on the interwebs a few years ago and saved a sh!t ton of $$$ and headaches

You get what you pay for in the world of optics. Keep in mind a vortex red dot will never have the dependability of an aim point.

A lot of people may disagree with me, but I've never understood the concept of putting a 300$ scope on a 3000$ gun.....

It's not the cost, but the quality..To each his own I guess...made in china.

I agree but things in life prevent me from dropping $5000 on a rifle and optic setup all on one go so why not get a cheap sight that has awesome reviews from a company that has a pretty big following right here on cgn in the mean time?

Hell, the Samsung s6 edge phone I'm typing this on is made in Vietnam lol. My Chevy was made in Mexico.

If this vortex can hold zero, which I'm quite confident it will, then I'm sure I can shoot the gun just as good as a $1000 red would get me too

Have the Sparc2 on my tavor, left the dot on and after 3 days battery is DEAD. So gonna go out and invest in a Aimpoint pro. The spar2 however is great and works really well, not its fault i left it on :D till it died.

I had a Vortex Strikefire survive a total of 6 rounds .223 before it went dead. I tried a new battery, still dead. Vortex sent me a replacement within 4 business days which is great, but I was still stuck without an optic for my CQB match.

I promptly purchased an Aimpoint Micro the next day.
