Vortex Solo?

My dads got a 10x solo and it's mediocre. Glass is nothing to get excited about but the biggest problem is that it's over magnified and it's very difficult to keep it steady. They make 8x versions but no one seems to carry them,

Get a small pair of binos,

Patrick

I bought one of the 8x36 ones a few years back, optically it doesn't seem as bright as my leupold rifle scope but a lot easier to stare through for long periods, I don't find it to be shaky.

It's held up well, granted my hunting is a fairly relaxed affair, no mountains or day long hikes crossing rivers.

Also it has good long eye relief, I have no issues getting a nice clean full image with it in front of my glasses.

I have glaucoma and my left eye has a hard time focusing on its own, so binoculars are useless for me, I just wish I could find a higher end unit.

I see leica and zeiss ones but they seem more tuned to bird watching and less likely to survive snow, fog and ice.

I would be willing to spend a lot more than I did on this solo, but no one really offers a nice hunting monocular, ideally one that has good built in caps on both ends or at least can take butler creek ones, my solo fits bc ones but only on the eye box end.

I have I the 8x36 they work well,I cannot use Binos, don't bother with the 10 x models they are to hard to stabilize.hold it like its a beer can with your thumb pointed up a stabilize the monocular off your cheek and forehead ,optics are about the same as 250.00 binos
WSS in edmonton has them for 170.00
Saworski had one but it's not on their site anymore maybe try used on this site

I have the 10x36 and like it alot for the 65 bucks I paid for it.

I mostly use it for chasing coyotes and I think it works great for just looking around fast. I can pull it out and use it and put it away with one hand in my bino pouch.

I agree for serious looking around that it sometimes can be hard to stabilize.
