I see Vortex has expanded the Strike Eagle range of scopes with these two additional models. The range seems to be aimed at a similar price point to the Nikon X1000 scopes, however it is different in the fact that they are five times magnification compared to the four times magnification of the Nikon. It will be interesting to see reviews of these scopes.

Hoping to hear more as well. Sounds like we will get some news at Shot Show. I've been looking for something that is a bit of a step up from their Diamondback Tacticals.

Thanks, it shows $649 for the 3-18 x 44. I was thinking the price would be a bit higher but glad to see that they are offering for MSRP, or lower technically.

It's actually a 3-18x44 and a 4-24x50. You get 6X zoom range and illuminated reticle with lots of elevation/windage adjustment, but relative to the Viper line you're giving up the argon fill, ArmorTek lens coating, XR lens coatings, XD glass and the Strike Eagle is a bit heavier.

So it's a tradeoff, as usual.

I found it very useful to know what you are giving up with this range of scopes, since it really helped me in making a decision on choosing a new scope for my tikka lite in 223

looking forward to reading some reviews as well, the 4-24x50mm scope seems to have a decent set of features for the price point.

If the glass is reasonable that scope may be selling off the shelves quickly.

Curious if it's got a reasonable eyebox at lower magnification and decent clarity at high magnification if any of you have a chance to post feedback.

I emailed Vortex Canada directly. They responded by saying they are expecting them in NA mid- May but the qty in transit is too small to fill the existing orders and suggested I participate in a pre-order with a dealer to ensure a faster delivery.

Cool beans, which are you going to pre-order?

Not the best picture. I will be mounting it and going to the range this month. All in all, I do like the quality and the clarity seems good. Love the reticle

I will post a review after I take it to the range

I had a look at one in Cableas on Sunday, alot of scope for the money for sure. They had some nightforce SHV's there and a had an oppurtunity to look through both with the NF as a benchmark, you could tell nightforce glass vs. vortex glass, but I was impressed with Nightforce is selling for the dollar. The turrets were better than expected, I didn't get to look through at a long distance for high magnification just across the store but it was acceptable.
