Vortex venom 5-25 - anyone run one

I had one and sold it. Nothing wrong with it, pretty good glass considering the price.
A bit bulky though.
Nothing to compliment or complain about. It has the quality of a sub-1000$ scope.
That’s it

Does the Venom have the same thing with its zero stop as the Strike Eagle, where using it cuts the elevation travel in half?

Inside the turret, it has a pin to stop the ring. You can turn the ring to wherever you want. I usually do it so that it stops at 3-4 mil below zero.

ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT w/ REVSTOP™ RING 47 MOA 18 MRAD
ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT w/ REVSTOP™ REMOVED 85 MOA 25 MRAD

I had one on my 457 CZ for .22 precision shooting and had no issues with it. Elevation adjustment range of 25 mils was fine out to 400m. Class was clear, zero stop worked when setup adjusted down 3 mils so overall I was pretty happy with it. Sold it mounted on a Ruger Precision .22 rimfire. I would buy another one without issue.

I like mine very much on my Sig Cross - sorry, haven't tried it with .22lr. But no issues at all, love its features, just wish it were a pound lighter... but then it wouldn't be an FFP scope, which is a feature I definitely prefer.

The Strike Eagle has far more travel than the Venom, just don't use the zero stop on the Strike Eagle, and install a proper MOA rail...

5-25x56 for both scopes. Strike Eagle has 31 MRAD/110 MOA vs. Venom has 25 MRAD/85 MOA and priced $1150 vs $700. If $450 difference is ok with you, the GFI. I’d sooner save the $ and adjust the diff with an MOA rail.

You should also list and compare the elevation travel amount for those scopes with the zero stop utilized, because it is a lesser amount.

I wouldn’t touch a venom with a 10 foot poll after this tracking review done in a precision testing jig.

How can you trust an optic where the reticle stops moving and the elevation turret keeps clicking for 3-10 more clicks?

Or when dialled 5 Mils left or right windage the elevation adjustment clicks move the reticle even less?

The answer is you can’t trust it.

Worth extra 130$ compared to Diamondback Tactical 6-24?

I had both and sold them both. Venom is much better than Diamondback Tactical in glass clarity and quality. But it's bigger and heavier. I think it's worth the premium.

Nothing wrong about them, it's just me. When I looked at a $4000 glass there is no way back.

Whats the conclusion for this? I think Arken EP5 is slightly more expensive right? Both it and the Venom are made in China I believe

Can't go back in lifestyle. Thats why I don't try nicer things than I can afford, that way I'm not tempted!

with Arken's price range, I suggest you look at Athlon Midas Tac. For a little bit below 1000, you get a better scope.

No conclusion, except that the venom’s tracking can’t be trusted at the top end and becomes even worse with windage dialed in, unusable IMO.

Everything under $2500 by Vortex is made in China or the Philippines. Arken is all in China, no way around that if all your offerings are under $500 USD. They are really crushing it and basically slowly taking market share from all the big vendors which are probably rightfully freaking out at this point. LOL

Not telling you to buy an Arken EP5 but I own one and it’s amazing for the money, has better turrets and clicks than any scope I have seen below $3000 and is a great option if you can deal with the 1110g weight (plus 200g for the 1 piece mount). It’s also very bulky so not ideal for hunting, but for any type of target shooting it’s exceptional. All of these optics have tight eye-boxes and the Arken is no exception.

Site sponsor GoBigTactical had the EP5 for $899 with $80 for rings or 1 piece mount and had free throw lever, bubble level and scope caps this weekend for Black Friday, a $130 value. Pay by EMT and it is 5% off as well with code EMT5OFF

As for Athlon, they work as advertised, personally I don’t think they are ‘better’ than the Arken offerings but to each their own. They both do the job.

I haven't use one on a .22, but had a Viper HS-T on a .308 and one on a .223 (both bolt actions with 20 MOA rails). They have been used in temperatures from +32 to -28 Celcius, with no performance issues. The .308 mounted one was shot from 100-600 yards with no return to zero problems or distance adjustments based on the data recorded from previous shots, weather conditions being the exception. I can't comment on windage adjustment tracking as that was per wind speed that day, and I didn't record that data. I found them easy to focus and that the numbered parallax adjustment increments were spot on.

My rimfires have Sightron (Anchutz 64 .22lr) and Athlon (CZ457 17HMR) scopes respectively as the Viper HS-T seemed too big for either of those platforms. Both of those brands are great options, along with the new company Tract (replaced my Viper HS-T on my .308 with a Tract Toric ELR and it is as good as, if not better than my Nightforce NXS).

Keep in mind that Vortex has a lifetime warranty (they aren't the only ones however), so if you have problems with it, you can return it.
