Vortex venom rds disappears in top half of viewing area

Just got this sight and was messing around with it and found the dot disappears in the top half of the viewing area. It goes all the way to either side but not up to the top. I messed around with the elevation adjustment and with it turned all the way up the dot will go a bit higher but still only reaches about 3/4 of the way. I've never had a red dot sight before but I can't think of anything I'm doing wrong. Is this thing defective?
 
I have it installed now, it's not a problem with the elevation it's just that the dot itself doesn't go past halfway when I move it around. It's like it gets cut off by something. I'll try and take a video of it tonight it's kind of hard to explain

But when you zero it can you see the dot fine? You are possibly making an issue where one doesn’t exist.
 
With it zeroed in the dot still dissapears on the upper half. It's like there's a line across it that cuts the dot off, I got a video but not sure how to put it on here
 
You have a problem...I just checked on my Venom and confirmed on my Razor...I can see the dot anywhere s from any angle in the viewing area...top, bottom and side to side.

I’d call Vortex Canada. They have the most hassle free warranty I’ve ever used and quick turnaround....I’ve had two Viper red dots crap out and they shipped me new units the day after they received the busted ones, no questions asked.

Now that sounds like a real problem. Contact Vortex and they'll help you out. It's also possible that running it to the end of travel somehow damaged it. You're not supposed to do that because it's never necessary.
