Hi Everyone,

These two scopes essentially share the same reticle, but the strike Eagle is illuminated. My question relates to the visability of the reticle at low magnification in bright daylight. It's very hard to tell in store, how visable the venom (non-illuminated) will be in the bright daylight. What are your experiences with the two or the strike eagle with illumination Off?

If you are going to use it for long range rimfire the Strike Eagle has 31MIL elevation travel, just use a properly canted rail and don't use the zero stop. Otherwise very similar, but both far better than the Diamond Back Tactical.

How is it at 5x and close range in bright daylight. How well can you see the reticle without illumination?

I have never looked through it at any short range or even on anything lower then about 12x until I took it out today when I got home from work and dialed it down to 5x and was able to aim at a pinecone I was looking at under a pine tree about 20 yards away just fine... I can see the crosshair just fine, but you aren't going to use any holdovers on it at that level though. I would think it will be hard to see in low light though...

Thanks, just the info I was looking for.

I own a Strike Eagle and have shot a friend’s rifle with a Venom on it while I developed a load for him. Because I don’t find myself using the illumination feature on my Strike Eagle very often, if I was to do it again, I would buy a Venom. I like them both but in don’t know if the extra money was worth it. I personally find the reticle fine on 5x during daylight.
