Vortex Venom vs Strike Eagle

I currently have a diamondback and looking to upgrade to either a venom of strike eagle.
Purpose: 22LR ORPS, NRL22….etc
Shots will be up to 100 yards for ORPS and maybe 400 yards for NRL.

I don’t care about the illumination or locking turrets in the SE.
Just curious about glass quality difference.

Is there a substantial quality upgrade with the SE over the venom specific to image quality?

Thanks
Doug

I've owned both, the SE has slightly better glass over the Venom. Is it $500 better, probably not. But the locking turrets and additional elevation adjustment is nice to have for 22 PRS

If you can squeeze the extra cash cabelas has a pst gen 2 5-25×50 with the ebr-2c reticle on for 1200...i last saw the strike eagle on for 1150 for the same size (except for the tube, that was 34 for the s.e. and 30 for the pstg2)

I have two strike eagles, a 1-6 and a 1-8. For the price I think they're phenomenal. Especially if you can find them barely used for a discount like I have.

I had a chance to look through both and 200-300 yards the other day.
Very similar image but here are some of my thoughts comparing the two:

-turrets on SE were more aggressive/grippy in texture
-turrets on Venom seemed to have less wiggle between adjustments
-turrets on Venom seemed to click more finely while SE were more aggressive and more noticeable (both very nice)
-Image on Venom seemed to be brighter but there was more contrast with the SE
-SE eye box seemed more forgiving and maybe it made the field of view appear to be larger (comparing same magnification)
-SE seemed to have more chromatic aberration (purple tinge around sharp edges)
-Image quality towards center of glass seemed very comparable between the two however the SE maintained clarity across the whole scope face while the Venom started to get fuzzy/soft as you approached the outer diameter of the scope
-when looking at an image for a prolonged period there was notably less eye strain or effort to stay focus when looking through the SE (maybe to do with the even clarity across the whole scope face)

I’d like to look through another SE to see if that chromatic aberration was a fluke (could have been the focus piece, eye distance from scope or maybe just that scope). It’s a tough call on which one is better.

Leaning towards the SE but I think I’d also be happy with a venom.
I’ll be keeping my eyes open for a deal on the EE.

Please feel free to add your experience with either or.
I am hoping to keep this a vortex thread, I know there are other options but I’m stuck in vortex for a number of reasons.

Thanks
Doug
