Purchased a vortex PST Gen II 5x25-50 FFP MRAD scope through AL flatherys, upon mounting it on my RPR, I went to go test out the illumination and holy ####!! I couldn't even turn it. I had to google a review on YouTube, and witnessed someone turning his with one hand, I literally had to grip it as hard as hell just for it to turn one click. So I get on the phone and speak with a polite gentleman over at vortex Canada, and he states that something is definitely not right, and that he will send me a prepaid shipping postage to send it off to them. He stated that once it gets here that they will look at it asap, if they can't fix it, or parts will take too long to get here, that they will just send me a new one. I will keep you guys posted along the way as this is my first time dealing with Vortex, but so far very impressed.

I don't know what it is with Canadian gun owners that 'we' are so impressed with the warranty policy of companies that clearly don't have any sort of QC checks before their products leave the factory :(

OP - I guess it's good that you're happy with the situation at hand, but personally, I would seriously have my nose out of joint over this. Ultimately, I guess it's only the illumination.....but still....

Most of my scopes are Vortex for that reason. I broke one in a manner that I considered to be at least partly my own fault. I told them about it, and it made no difference: they had me send the broken scope back and replaced it anyways.

You can't beat that kind of warranty. And given the quality/price point of most of their offerings, they're great purchases. As far as QC goes: I have 3 scopes from Vortex, and they were all perfect right out of the box.

I have three Razor II and each was perfect out of the box and remain so. I had three Kahles 624i and each had to be returned. Statistically valid to the general populace ? Of course not, but statistically valid to me . You betcha.

I bought into the Vortex craze a few years ago despite the warnings end users were putting out. Just to save a few bucks.

I instantly had problems, Vortex sent me a new one, and I sold it before taking it out of the box. I was foolish to think that maybe, just maybe i'd get lucky and buy a good one. Nope.

Since then I only buy optics from manufacturers that have a proven track record of quality and reliability, and who's products are actually used in combat.

Yes, don't get me wrong, I'm ####ing pissed that I had to install my scope on my rifle, just to find out, that I have to wait 3 weeks (maybe more) to hopefully luck out and have scope that functions as advertised. I will be making sure that whatever they send me, is actually inspected this time. But at the end of the day, I'm glad that my money is going to be Getting its value in return as that's what I paid for a, "functioning" scope. I have a razor gen 2, and works like a brute!

Great service. Crap product. Ive gone thru 3. In thw end it didnt cost me anything but shipping costs from the dealers i bought from. Funny thing is i have a $12 chinese scope on a 3.5" chambered turkey gun and its never had an issue

Just thought I'd give everyone an update. The scope arrived 4 days after me mailing it to them, it was in their shop for not even 24hrs and was fixed and shipped back. Took two days for them to ship the item back to me from Ontario to Alberta. Impressed none the less with the speedy service.

All of my scopes are NOT Vortex (Kotex?) for this reason.

The best warranty is the one you NEVER have to use....

I've owned three Vortex scopes and 2 out of three have had issues. My little PST 1-4 seems happy on my Savage A-17 though and has turned off quite a few critters around the acreage.
I only paid for one brand new, the other two were acquired in trades and I won't spend money on them again. To me they are like Bushnell, the best thing about them is the warranty.

I have a Razor HD Gen 2 4.5-27x 50mm and a Razor HD Gen 2 1-6x 24mm along with 2 pistol-mounted Razor MRDSs and nary a bobble. Everything works exactly as intended and expected. I really couldn't ask for better than what I have experienced with the Vortex Razor line. I reckon like everyone else, Vortex has econo lines with less than stellar performance and longevity. That is where the warranty is definitely worth having. With the Razor line, I have never had need of it. The Vortex line is definitely a case of getting what you pay for!
