Got a Vortex Viper 6x24x50 EBR1 illuminated ffp, seems i have to move my shooting position when going up and down in the power range, is this normal?

Yes, the eye box is very narrow and unforgiving. I have two Viper HS-T 6-24x50's and have the same issue.

This is one of the reasons I do not own Vortex scopes.

Looks like I have a Viper for sale, anybody have feedback on the Nikon Black?

Nothing on the Black, but just be aware that Nikon has changed their warranty policy regarding scopes. If you send in a scope they will not repair/replace it anymore. They will offer you an equivalent valued "product" but only if you can produce the original receipt. I just went through this with them a while back and finally got it settled but it took several months.

I’m not trying to be a smart ass, but have you set it up for proper eye relief and adjusted the eye piece?
