Looking to get another scope for a new AR I just picked up- which would you go with and why? I believe that the Millett is half the cost but apart from that what have been your experiences, thoughts about the scopes? My purposes are for plinking, CQB, 3 gun and whatever fun AR course I can find time to do.

Although I haven't looked through the PST, I did look through a DMS once and wasn't impressed. Try them both and don't bother looking at the price tag.

DMS is half the cost.

PST can be used with both eyes open, DMS not so much.

PST has windage & elevation turrets, DMS has sunkin (coin adjustable) windage & elevation

PST has better glass

We have both in stock for anyone who wants to compare.

I checked the OSTS website and could not find the Vorstex PST- Are you still doing the package deal with the mount and scope? what version of the recticle do you have for the vortex? Illumination wise, and use for ranging, is the vortex also better?

Optics - Vortex - Scopes - Viper PST Line ;)

Sold out of the 1-4s this morning. More are on order though. Yes, the package deal will apply but we are way low on the mounts.

Yes, for ranging the Vortex is the better retical.

I have a Millett DSM and a Vortex PST 4-16.

I know they are not the same type of scope, but magnification/glass aside, the turrets on the Vortex are way nicer. They are exposed, turret can be realigned to zero, adjustments match the retcile, and they have a rudimentary zero stop.

The 1x on the Millet is OK, but there is a fair distortion around the edges.(not even close to a NF or Trijicon) I haven't looked though a Vortex 1-4 so I cannot comment. I like the Millett reticle but it dosn't have any marks to range off of. I don't shoot it past 200 yards so it dosn'nt matter much to me.

The illumination on the Vortex is NV compatable at the lower settings if that is important to you. Plus there are off positions between setting.

The millett is a good scope for the money. You might be able to find one in the EE for 200-250. Is the Vortex 250ish nicer? That depends on your budget.

If the Vortex 1x is anything close to a NF or Trijicon, then I will be tempted to upgrade to one.

I am in the same boat as the OP and have had the chance to check them both out. I would buy the PST. I know it is more expensive but the PST seems to be better quality all over. The glass is definitely better with the Pst and that is important to me.

I too was looking at the Millet and decided against it for 2 reasons. The 1x power will not allow you to use both eyes and it is made in China. I seen a Bushnell Trophy Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 1-4x 24mm Illuminated 4A with Dot Reticle in my local shop for $280 it seemed good and on 1x I could use both eyes. I am considering this one. They are made in Korea. The website says they are no longer available but you may find one in a shop. I would love to get a Vortex PST but it is out of my price range.

Here is a link for the model.
