Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 Riflescope

like mine so far...one thing was the rectical illumination knob...at first i thought mine was a defect called guelph great service they told me to exact words tighten the crap out of it..i did..then i noticed the lower numbers 1 thru 5 wasnt working..thought it wasnt working,,turns iout that it is set so low to beable to use with night optics...also has an off between every power setting...my friends have us optic and they are also impressed with thew viper for the price...having used leopold for many years vari 3 i can honestly say that its a better scope...its mounded on a 700 in 308 and 300 rouonds later still doing what good scopes do...holding zero and still tight.... me it comes down to service and warrenty..they told me i could paint it..scratch it...break it and its a no hassel return... sounds good to me... for a scope around a grand im very happy...a friend of ours just mounted one on his 338 700...thinking about buying the razor next...good luck

What does it do better for $1000 then the Burris MTAC/tac30/xtr do that start at $350?
Both made in the Philippines, for WELL UNDER $1000 you can get Japanese made Bushnell or Leupold VXR. Has to be something these do better for the price no?
I see the msrp is $600.....is the $1000 just a Canadian rip-off thing?

good question viper is made in the philippines however the razor is made in japan and im not sure if of the ones you suggested either is avalible in first focal plane first focal is optional on the viper i oped for it cost an extra 120 it really comes down to knowing the scope your using and the platform money doesnt buy talent or ability .i found that the clearest lense for the money was the viper in all fairness i never concidered burris.i also liked the zero stop not offered by other companies in that price range

These are amazing little scopes for the money and if comparing between only the Vortex and the CMR save yourself some pennies and go with the HiLux. It has everything the Vortex does and also comes with a better zero loc system(actually locks instead of plastic shims) of course you will lose out on getting to start a thread about how great Vortex was to deal with when you need warranty ;). Im also a huge fan of the Burris line having owned the MTAC's and XTR'sbut they are a little more spendy.

I spent months deciding to buy the PST, compared it to everything everyone compares it to, and I'm happy I went with the PST.

The zero stop shims are actually brass, not plastic. The entire scope feels solid as soon as you take it out of the bag. Turrets are very reassuring when turned, nice and crisp.
I went with the MOA and I wish the retical was overall just a little bigger, but not a deal breaker. The outer ring is really fast on target up close, love it.

I'm already regretting not getting the throw lever for the magnification dial, but it might end up just being something that gets caught on clothing, pouches, slings etc.

And of course, if you've ever had a scope quit on you, the warranty is hard to argue with! Happy shopping!
