I did a lot of online research before purchasing a 6.6 x 20 x 50mm Viper. I like the scope but find the reticle a little heavy. I have never looked or seen the reticle options on the Viper HS or the PST (aside from Vortex's site).

Value for money was what I was after with the Viper-I got it. But is the HS or PST offerings even better value given the features on the Viper line? Also, has anyone done a ladder test with the Vortex line-up?

I assume you mean a tracking test? I haven't given my PST a serious tracking test yet, but doesn't seem to have any issues. I did do a torture test on my Vortex Crossfire 6-24X50 and it was spot on. Both are awesome scopes for the money.

Having shot a Viper HS on the weekend, I'm planning on buying one. Just a gorgeous scope I think, BDC reticle that was VERY fine. I'm also looking at a new Crossfire II for one of my .22s, and am waiting for pricing from 2 CGN sponsors...nothing yet.

I put a Vortex HS 2.5-10x44 BDC on my 6.5-06. I thought when I purchased that the fine reticule would be a PIA for hunting. NOT so! As it turned out I never had any issues in finding the cross hairs or making the final shot. The scope has been bang on. Another hunting rig sports a 6-20x50 Viper and the excellent glass made it a gem in all hunting light conditions. I have not had the opportunity to use a PST but a number of my other rifles sport other Vipers, Diamondbacks and Crossfires. The features and bang for the buck on these scopes are a recommend to anyone looking for a great tool to complement their rifle.

Methings an HS or PST might complement my next rig-I like the Viper, but to my eye the reticle is a little heavy. No problem for larger game, but it's on a 22-250 at the moment for varmints, as a 6.5 x 20 x 50 mm should be. The reason I went with the Viper line-up is I couldn't see any other manufacturer competing at this pricepoint for the features you get. I know they're not top-line, but then again they do offer the Razor which may be.

A buddy of mine has the Viper 6.5-20x50 I belive it is in the wide V-plex reticle. I find that reticle to be a bit fat and annoying. I have 2 Viper HS Models. The 2.5-10x40 on my 30-06 and a 4-16x50 on my 223. I have them in the V-Plex reticle. Its a nice fine reticle. I was worried it would be to thing and would lose it while placing it on my target. Not the case at all. I dont regret buying them at all.
