OK purchased this pistol the other day to help out a friend, Then I go looking on line to read about this version, and find , it maybe rare, and the selling price was 5 times that of a 22 lr version. I have posted some information from another sight. Any thoughts as to value? is it truly rare being a 22 short? HELP ME PLEASE.
"Here's a very nice example of an interesting pistol, not too commonly encountered. This is a variation of the Russian "Vostok" Margolin target pistol referred to as the "M.U.-1". The Margolin pistols were introduced in the late 1940's, not long after WWII. They came from the fertile mind of Mikhail Margolin, an impressive feat particularly when you consider that Margolin with completely blind! The M.U.-1 was designed for rapid fire competition and is chambered for the .22 Short cartridge. It features a special lightweight alloy slide in order to reliably function with the lower powered cartridge and has no external safety. It has a 6.5" barrel which is threaded at the muzzle to accept the compensator. The sights consist of a bridge rear sight with windage adjustable blade and a front "drum" sight which is adjustable for elevation. It features an exposed hammer, trigger over-travel adjustment, and the rear tang overhangs the shooting hand providing excellent support. The target grips have a right hand thumb-rest and there is an adjustable stop at the bottom of the butt that is easily detachable. Takedown is unique, but very simple."
