VV N550 | N150 + 167gr Lapua Scenar L

COAL is determined by magazine (if you want to use it) and chamber throat.

Make a round of 2.850 and close the bolt on it. If it comes out with no rifling marks, use that length in your rifle. If it has rifling marks on the bullet, seat another one at 2.825 and chamber it. If it has marks, put it aside and try 2.810. When you find the step that does not have marks, use that setting, and re-seat the ones you put aside.

I tried a bunch of loads up to where I started seeing pressure signs but none of them grouped well... Is this a point to retry some of those loads but at a different COAL? Or should I just try another powder/bullet ?

Load 47 gr with the bullet so long it gets rifling marks all around it.

And load 5 of each in 10 thou increments shorter.

My rifle likes 20 thou off the rifling. My son's works best touching.

Yours? Find out.

I loaded: 2.95, 2.98, 3.00, 3.05, 3.12 grams and the COAL is 71.74mm... Ill edit the post with grain/inch conversions... I saw pressure signs at 3.12.

Grains: 45.5, 45.9, 46.3, 47.1, 48.1 @ 2.82 inches...

My magazine may not allow a longer oal :(
