So I have been shooting my SAM Military enhanced 1911 9MM a fair bit lately and with good success. I decided to go down to the range with it and my CZ SP01 Shadow in a side by side shootout to see how they stack up.
First the low down on the guns
SAM 1911 Military Enhanced 9mm. Bought it used off EE and added a few parts, $500 into it
- Ed Brown trigger
- G10 grips with front rubber finger grooves
- a little trigger work but still pretty heavy
CZ SP01 Shadow. Bought new and added a few parts, $1000 into it
- Full length stainless guide rod with 14# spring
- Thin aluminum grips
- all stock other than that
Freehand from 15 meters took 10 shots slow and methodical for accuracy, then the next 20 rapid fire. Here are the results, looks like a pretty close race to me and considering the SAM is half the price I am pretty impressed.

And besides, 25 yards is an eternity (or almost) for a handgun. (imho)
