Vx-3 2.5-8x36mm

Anyone know why these are hard to find. Cabelas, WS, PR no one has any. Maybe no demand for a light, small, compact scope any more.

I think you hit the nail on the head, I just recently was in the market for a 1-4x20mm and had a bugger of a time finding what I wanted (nikon monarch) and ended up spending a bit more than I had hoped and got a vx2 as it was the only one in stock.

Not no demand, but certainly not nearly as much demand as for spotting scope levels of magnification combined with objective lenses the size of soup bowls. The biggest profits are in the latest fashions.

I am convinced this is quite possibly the best optic on the planet, and yet ironically, haven't bought one yet as I always have different priorities.

Don't give up. It really is the most perfect combination of size/weight/magnification/objective size/quality in exisitence, and, all for a very reasonable price when you look at the specs....

Everyone needs higher mag scopes now-a-days because they have comprimised their vision by spending to many hours staring at a computer screen.

Ah. I thought my eyes were deteriorating just because of my age. I've started using scopes with up to 6x magnification where 4x used to be enough.

Agree,

Watched a guy at WSS buy a 5-25x56 to put on a Browning BLR!!! Neither he or the idiot salesperson saw the absurdity in it.
People have been brainwashed by long range "hunting" shows that make it look easy to shoot game at long distances as long as you have a telescope mouted on your gun. But this is a rant for another day.

As for the Leupold 2.5-8x36..... I own 3 and think its about the best mid-priced hunting scope going! Nice and compact, lightweight, can be mounted low and has plenty of magnification( taken deer at 400+ with it) for most big game hunting.

yeah,me too, I noticed I like more scope power getting into my fifties. In the thick woods I used to carry a variable at 2 power now it's 3 or 3.5.

Wow... That is the exact optic I have been looking for, a compact low power variable to replace my 1-4x24 when hitting the range... Just checked the Leopold website, and between the VX3 2.5-8x36 and the VX2 2.5-7x33, I think I'm sold! Sorry to hijack the thread, just wanted to say thanks for pointing out a choice I had totally overlooked in my hunt for a new scope!

good luck finding one. Go across the border and get one for $399. I'm going with the Zeiss this time.
