Vx-3 2.5-8x36mm

It's not necessarily a crime to buy a scope in the U.S. and take it out of the country. Some are banned from export, most aren't. It's a crime under U.S. law to export them without the appropriate permits from the U.S. authorities.

Whether the warranty on a scope sold in the U.S. is honoured by a Canadian dealer/distributor/service agent depends on the arrangements and agreements with the manufacturer, and this can vary between manufacturers.

I was looking for a Leupold FX2 2.5x20 (Ultralight, not the handgun scope) for quite a while for a Marlin. Called P and D in Edmonton, they had one to me within a week. Worth a phone call if you're looking for obscure Leupold. PS It's a great match for the rifle.

I am very interested in this scope for a new to me remington 700 in 30-06. This magnification range seems to be the best compromise for what I am going to use the rifle for. The eye box of this scope seems to be very generous, which I think is an asset on a hunting rifle.

I am trying to figure out if I should get one with one of the ballistic compensating reticles or a standard plex/30.30 reticle and use turrets. I know you don't get a coupon for a custom turret with the purchase of one of these scopes, but I assume that they can put one on at Leupold. I am thinkin that the standard turret would probably suit my needs well as shots over 200 yards where I hunt are rare, but I do want a way to make shots out to 400 yards without estimating holdover; I would prefer to dial it in. Checked out the VX III 2.5-8 as they didn't have the new VX3 in stock yet where I was looking and I noticed that to zero the turret there is a little gold C ring under the turret that you turn, but it didn't seem like it would reliably stay put. Does the new VX3 have this C ring as well? If it does I think that I would put a drop of nail polish or something on it to hold it in place.

I just picked up one of the new burris 2 - 7 E1 (the new fullfield II) with a buddy of mine and we test fitted it to determine which rings we would need. We ended up having to use medium rings on low weaver 2 piece bases on his long action remington 700. We wanted to get the scope as low as possible but we couldn't get clearance for the magnification adjusting knob on the burris. Somewhat dissappointing as we were not able to take advantage of the 35 MM scope, but then again I think that it is possible to mount a scope too low on one of these rifles (too low from a fit/ergonomics point of view).

I think that the VX 3 2.5 - 8 would have worked with low rings, but I don't know if it would have cleared the bolt handle or not with low rings. Anyone here mount a 2.5 - 8 on a long action bolt gun and been able to get it mounted lower than a 40MM scope?
